READY TO FIGHT FOR YOUR FREEDOM?
After an arrest, it’s easy to feel like you are facing an uphill battle. Just the stigma of being arrested can hang over someone’s head.
But the truth is: You are not the one who should be feeling backed into a corner. The burden is on the prosecution to prove the case against you beyond a reasonable doubt. Our experienced attorneys understand that heavy burden because we are former prosecutors ourselves. We also know the strategies prosecutors will use to try to force defendants into plea deals. We make sure our clients don’t get bullied into bad deals.
Our knowledgeable Belmar criminal defense attorneys will take every opportunity to tear down the prosecution’s case and build up your defense. If possible, we will fight to have the charges against your reduced or dropped. And if necessary, we will ferociously defend you before a judge and jury.
At the end of the day, we understand that this is your life and your future on the line. So we fight like your life depends on it.

WE ARE BELMAR DEFENSE LAWYERS
Here in the Borough of Belmar and throughout Monmouth County, the dedicated attorneys at the Law Offices of John F. Marshall fight for the rights of individuals who have been accused of both serious and minor crimes. With decades of experience in courtrooms throughout New Jersey, our legal team has both the broad perspective and local knowledge to navigate local courts and develop smart defense strategies.
In New Jersey, minor offenses are categorized as “disorderly persons offenses” or “petty disorderly persons offenses.” These cases are heard in municipal courts. More serious charges are categorized as “indicatable offenses.” These cases are heard locally in the county’s Superior Court. Cases involving federal charges are heard in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, which has courtrooms in Trenton, Camden, and Newark.
Belmar & Monmouth County Courts
In New Jersey, municipal courts such as the one in Belmar have limited jurisdiction. These courts handle minor criminal offenses, traffic tickets, local ordinance offenses, and some regulatory body offenses. Although serious charges such as robbery or assault may be filed in Belmar Municipal Court, they will be transferred to Monmouth County Superior Court.
