William E. Wackowski joined the Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall in 2017, bringing more than 12 years of trial experience and criminal law experience with him. As a licensed attorney and former prosecutor, he brings insider knowledge of how the state builds cases, giving him a proven advantage when defending clients.
A native Pennsylvanian, Mr. Wackowski earned a B.S. degree in education from Temple University in 1992 and then worked as a middle-school teacher for six years before deciding that he wanted to become a lawyer. He enrolled at Rutgers School of Law, received his J.D. in 2001, and has been practicing law in New Jersey ever since.
Initially, Mr. Wackowski handled medical malpractice cases, but then turned to criminal law as a prosecutor for a number of towns, including New Brunswick, North Brunswick, East Brunswick, Piscataway, Metuchen, Edison, and Helmetta. After six years, he launched his own solo practice in Point Pleasant Beach, focusing on aggressively defending individuals charged with felony indictable crimes, ranging from simple drug possession to murder, as well as assault charges, theft defense, domestic violence cases, and white collar crime.
Mr. Wackowski enjoys the competitive aspect of trying cases in court and has developed a reputation for his skills in negotiating with prosecutors on behalf of his clients. His courtroom experience includes challenging evidence, cross-examining witnesses, and working to reduce charges or suppress evidence when appropriate. “I also enjoy helping people who have found themselves in bad situations,” Mr. Wackowski says. “Whether you’re facing your first arrest or dealing with serious charges, I provide compassionate legal representation while aggressively protecting your rights from arraignment through sentencing.”
As a local Monmouth County trial lawyer, Mr. Wackowski understands common concerns like ‘will I go to jail,’ ‘can charges be dropped,’ and ‘what to do after arrest.’ He offers same-day appointments, personalized attention, and works to achieve successful outcomes including case dismissals, plea bargains, and reduced charges.
In his limited spare time, Mr. Wackowski is a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He also enjoys freshwater and saltwater fishing.
